What is VFD and where it is used?
Variable Frequency Drive, also known as Variable Speed Drive (VSD) or Adjustable Frequency Drive (AFD), is the abbreviation for this type of drive. It is an electronic device that alters the frequency and voltage that is provided to an electric motor in order to control the torque and speed of the latter.
To enable precise control of motor speed, a VFD transforms incoming AC power from a set frequency and voltage to a variable frequency and voltage. The VFD may change the frequency and voltage, allowing for smoother acceleration and deceleration as well as finer control over the motor's performance.
